Khulna city BNP holds council Wednesday

The council of Khulna City BNP will be held at local circuit house maidan on Wednesday.

In case of inclement weather, the venue will be shifted to Zia Hall, said lawmaker and City BNP Convener Nazrul Islam Manju.

Twelve sub-committees have been formed to make the council a success. Besides, a media cell has also been set up in the party office with Kanak Rahman as its convener.

Kanak said 355 councillors from five thana committees will cast their votes to elect new president, general secretary and organising secretary of the city BNP. Voting by ballots will take place from 7:30pm at Gymnasium of Khulna District Sports Association (KDSA), he added.

Other programmes of the day include documentary on background of the party highlighting different aspects of its political commitments to the people, role of its founder late President Ziaur Rahman in switching over to multi-party system and a cultural function.

Festoons and placards containing portraits of late Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman have been hung and work for erecting arches at different points of the city is going on, media cell convener said.

Distinguished guests including leaders of all political parties of Khulna and other districts of south-western region have been invited to attend the council.

Lawmaker Nazrul Islam Manju, when asked, denied intra-party squabbles in Khulna city BNP and hoped to hold the council peacefully.
