Police recovered body of a missing teenage girl on Monday evening from a derelict pond near Bastuhara colony at Khalishpur of Khulna city.
Afsana Khatun,13, was only daughter of day- labourer Imam Hossain Howlader and a student of class five. Her father said, Afsana went missing since Sunday evening. He filed a general diary on the same day. The next day, cook Abdul Quddus of Bastuhara colony Islamia Madrasa informed police when he saw the body in the pond at 6:30 pm. Officer-in-charge (OC) Mokaddes Ali of Khalishpur police station said, the girl might have been killed after rape. Rozina Begum, mother of the girl said, some unruly boys of Bastuhara colony had threatened to abduct her daughter on last Friday as she refused to marry one Imdad Hossain of the same area. Imam Howlader lodged an FIR with Khalishpur police station at 10:30 pm on Monday.
